Section 8

  • The Myton City Housing Authority currently administers 33 vouchers

  • This program provides rental assistance to low-income, elderly and disabled families to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private market

  • Because housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments

  • Rental units must meet minimum standards of health and safety, as determined by HUD and the Myton City Housing Authority

  • Eligibility for the voucher is based on a family’s household income

  • The participant’s share of the rent is generally between 30 to 40 percent of their monthly adjusted gross income for rent and utilities

  • The maximum subsidy a participant receives is the difference between the housing authorities’ payment standard and 30 percent of the monthly adjusted income; or the difference between the gross monthly rent (rent plus utilities) and 30 percent of the monthly adjusted income, whichever is less

  • The housing authority pays their portion of the rent directly to the landlord.
